About LES International

Founded in 1972, and incorporated in 2000, LES International (LESI) is the umbrella organization of national and regional associations for licensing executives. A Board of Directors and Board of Delegates, consisting of representatives of all national and regional societies, oversee the activities of LESI to function as a non-profit professional organization to broadly support LES Societies in their efforts on behalf of individual members by:

  • Setting and promoting consistent, high professional standards for licensing executives on a global basis
  • Creating and maintaining various geographically based LES Societies with the necessary number & balance of local members
  • Providing organizational leadership, coordination and advice
  • Facilitating professional networking between the members of LES Societies
  • Providing quality educational content to, facilitating the sharing of educational content between LES Societies
  • Informing and interacting with global organizations and policy forums concerning the economic significance and importance of licensing and other transfer of technology and intellectual property rights.

About LES India

The Licensing Executives Society India (LES India) is primarily a non-profit association comprising of individuals interested in all aspects of the transfer of technology and Intellectual Property rights. It endeavors to have a balance of lawyers and non-lawyers, who belong to a variety of backgrounds with a wide range of interests including business, academic, legal and other interests.

On satisfying the qualifications set out by the LES International, LES India was in June, 2003 formally integrated into the LES International world-wide family which comprises of 33 National and Regional societies, representing over 60 countries and 10,000 executives.

The membership covers a wide range of professionals, including business executives, lawyers, chartered accountants, company secretaries, patent agents, licensing consultants, engineers, academicians, scientists and representatives of government. Membership is on an individual basis and is not transferable. Many major companies, professional firms, and universities are represented within the Association.

Non-Confidentiality: Given the nature of participation, the Organizer – LES India and includes reviewers, judges, attendees are under no obligation to keep the contents of the submission confidential and therefore, the participants should not consider that they receive rights on the confidentiality of the data/ information that is presented at the BPC.

Participation Eligibility

The participant must be a registered company in any jurisdiction where there is a LES society (for more details visit http//www.lesi.org) in the Asia Pacific Region, i.e. Australia & New Zealand (ANZ), China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand or a university research group. The annual revenues of the participant should not exceed $1.5Million (USD) and the total funding raised should be less than $1Million (USD). Intellectual Property must be an important aspect for the participant. At the minimum, the participant should have filed for at least one patent or registered trademark or is licensing key intellectual property components including know how and software. Only one entry per company will be accepted for consideration. All costs will be borne by the participant.

Submission Disqualifications

Submissions which are incomplete will be deemed void and disqualified from the competition. Submissions should be the original work of the Participants. Plagiarized submissions will be disqualified. The ownership and the Intellectual Property (IP) of the Business Plan remain with the Participants. The Organizer will not be responsible for any IP disputes.
